Playing games can be a fun and effective way to maintain your brain’s thinking and attention abilities!
Memory, the card game:
The goal of this game is to match like cards together in as few turns as possible. This game can be played in groups (3 or 4 would work well) or alone.
- shuffle the cards
- Lay them in rows, face down
- Turn over any two cards
***only two cards can be face up at a time
- If the two cards match, pick them up and place them to the side (if playing against someone/others, these matches determine your score)
- If they don’t match, turn them back over
- Remember what was on each card and where it was
- Watch and remember during the other player’s turn or if playing alone, overturn another two cards and repeat from step 4
- The game is over when all the cards have been matched
- If playing in a group: the player with the most matches wins
- If playing alone: try to time yourself, when you are able to complete the matches in shorter and shorter periods of time you are improving!
