Dope sickness can increase the chance that you will rush the process of injection, share needles with others or inject in an unsafe environment. Be prepared so you can avoid withdrawal!
Some suggestions to avoid withdrawal include:
- putting aside drugs or money for buying drugs to use in an emergency
- collaborate with others to collectively buy drugs
- snorting or smoking the drug (instead of injecting) during an episode of withdrawal
- accessing a supply of methadone during an episode of withdrawal
