What is Recovery?
Recovery is a journey of personal change and development where someone learns how to manage their risks and reach their goals in a physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy way.
You could compare recovering from substance use to other types of recovery, such as a break-up or job loss. When dealing with a break-up, someone may be emotionally drained to a point where they cannot go to work. Similarly, while recovering from substance use or high risk behaviours, you are winning back your ability to cope with your life in a constructive and fulfilling way. Recovery is a dynamic and nonlinear journey to positive change and development. Trust us, it’s worth it!
