Everyone who uses drugs is at risk of an overdose. But, you might notice some people have a higher chance of experiencing an overdose event as compared to their friends. Why is that?

Some common factors that can put you at risk of an overdose include:

  1. Being diagnosed with a physical or mental health  disorder
  2. Taking alcohol or other substances
  3. Injecting opioids
  4. Using opioids alone
  5. Having had an overdose before

It is important to recognize these risk factors to help you or your loved ones from experiencing another overdose event.
