    Polysubstance Use and Fentanyl Use

The risk of overdose increases if you use fentanyl with:

    • Alcohol, benzodiazepines such as Xanax, Valium, Ativan
    • Stimulants such as cocaine
    • Other opioids like heroin

These substances can intensify fentanyl side effects, putting extra stress on organs such as your heart and lungs, which can make it hard to manage clinically in case of an overdose.
