Fentanyl Cohort Study, Vancouver British Columbia 2023
Fentanyl is a drug that is high-risk, and it is important to understand what steps to take to make sure that you and those around you are staying safe. If you’re using fentanyl, be sure to always have someone with you – never use alone. Know that injecting fentanyl increases your risk of overdose. Fentanyl overdoses can happen quickly and unexpectedly because it’s a strong drug that can have an intense, immediate effect.
If you suspect someone might be overdosing, call 911 right away, administer Naloxone if you have it, and make sure that the individual’s airways are open, allowing for them to breathe.
Being aware of the risks of using fentanyl and working to minimize your risk are brave steps to be taking –– you’ve got this!
