How to Decrease your Risk
There are different ways you can take steps towards your safety when using fentanyl. Here are some tips:
- Ensure you regularly drink water to stay hydrated
- Don’t use alone. If you feel like you can’t be with others while using, let your friends know when you’re taking the drug.
- Avoid injection if you can.
- Consider the dose you’re taking and be extremely careful with how much you’re taking.
- Use a safe injection site.
- Start with small doses.
- Avoid mixing with alcohol and other drugs, as this significantly increases the associated harms and side effects.
- Know how to recognize and respond to an overdose and carry naloxone.
- Get your drugs tested.
