There is no way you can “stop” the withdrawal symptoms overall, but there are things you can do to make it as bearable as possible.
Proper treatment and medication to help with the specific symptoms can help to reduce uncomfortable symptoms and control cravings; making the whole process easier.
There Are Several Options to Ease Withdrawal Symptoms
Alternative Therapies
Medications
Continue medical and mental health care
Quit Cold Turkey
If you do not plan on going to treatment and just want to avoid unintentional withdrawal, here are some things you can do:
- put aside emergency money for drugs for future withdrawals
- collectively buy drugs with friends
- snort or smoke (instead of injecting) during withdrawal
- use harm reduction resources! See the Naloxone and the Safer Injection modules.
