Everyone who uses drugs is at risk of an overdose. But, you might notice some people have a higher chance of experiencing an overdose event as compared to their friends. Why is that?
Some common factors that can put you at risk of an overdose include:
- Being diagnosed with a physical or mental health disorder
- Taking alcohol or other substances
- Injecting opioids
- Using opioids alone
- Having had an overdose before
It is important to recognize these risk factors to help you or your loved ones from experiencing another overdose event.
